Virginia is to the South as Brunswick is to the Midcoast (meaning, it’s as far north as you can get and still claim to be part of the South).
That being said, Virginia Beach is fun to walk around, has a bitchin’ statue of King Neptune, and has good food and drink at very reasonable prices. Also a hotel right on the water with a rooftop bar and lounge with a hot tub… what’s not to love?
Virginia is for lovers, and I fucking love Robin Slawson Hamann (after all, we’re (re)tying the knot next fall. Oops did I bury that lede? Yes I did).

We played mini golf indoors under black light whilst wearing 3D glasses. Trippy? Yes. Challenging? Definitely.

After checking out everything our hotel had to offer we went for dinner and drinks with the kids. We ended up at Repeal Bourbon & Burgers and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of their food and cocktails and their exceptionally reasonable prices. Would def recommend. I had a Greenpoint (new-style Manhattan, with yellow Chartreuse and good Woodford bourbon for only $12) and Robin had their Waldorf (absinthe 1900-era cocktail).

Now, we sleep. Tomorrow, Rochester!
