Dunnellon in central Florida has plenty of lizards and pretty sunsets. When we arrived, we were greeted by my uncle Dave.

Jeff & Autumn’s wedding

Pitching our tent along with the other early gatecrashers, I mean, guests. Look at the pretty Spanish moss everywhere!

I didn’t get a lot of wedding photos because I was busy being the FaceTime videographer for the cousin and aunt and uncle. Thankfully, Robin came through and got a few nice shots.

Baby gators are friends, too.

The Gulf Coast

We figured we couldn’t come all the way to central Florida and not visit the Gulf of Mexico, so that’s what we did. The approach to the beach reminded me of the 80s game Outrun.

Turns out there’s a white sand beach at Fort Island Gulf Beach, which was bathwater warm, but way too peopley.

After getting hella sunburnt (despite applying and reapplying sunscreen), the Maine lobsters got ice cream.

Peep that alcoholic adult ice cream (rum raisin and georgia peach & bourbon).

Under the bridge

Tristan went magnet fishing at the river bridge in Dunnellon. No shipwrecks recovered, but he did pull up an old dental pick and an unidentified piece of something, perhaps a boat stair?

Nice shootin’ Tex!

Jeff was nice enough to teach the kids some gun safety and do some target practice with them. Before we knew it, it was getting pretty dark (cue the glowstick tracer bullets!)

A little rain…

Today we were caught in what we thought was a quick afternoon shower. Turned out to be localized flooding, likely 3–4 inches in an hour, making driving a bit treacherous and hydroplany. We persevered though, and made it back to Casa Jeff & Autumn to find out that our tent did not persevere so well. Off to the laundromat we go, hey-ho!

Thanks to Jeff and Autumn for letting us crash on their lawn for a few days and for inviting us to their wedding. It was nice to see my cousin for the first time since we were children. It was also great to see Dave and Kathy. Let’s not make it another ten-plus years before we see each other!
